The short version: Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 26, 2026. Book your airport ride when you book your flight, avoid the Sunday before and the Sunday after if your schedule allows, and give your chauffeur the flight number rather than a pickup time.
Thanksgiving week is the one week a year when every part of an airport trip gets harder at once. Last year DFW Airport expected more than 3 million passengers over its Thanksgiving travel period, and AAA Texas forecast a record 5.8 million Texans traveling 50 miles or more. The terminals, the garages, the curbs and the highways all fill in the same few days.
Here is how we plan Thanksgiving airport transportation for clients flying in and out of DFW and Dallas Love Field.
Thanksgiving week 2026 at a glance
The heaviest air travel days are usually the Sunday before and the Sunday after Thanksgiving, with the Wednesday before close behind. In past years DFW has also flagged the Friday and Tuesday before as heavy. The airports publish their 2026 forecasts in mid-November; until then, plan around last year's pattern.

1. Book the ride when you book the flight
Chauffeured vehicles on Thanksgiving week fill the same way flights do: the best times go first. Early-morning departures on November 22 and arrival pickups on November 29 are usually the first slots we book.
What to do now: Once you have flight numbers, send them to your provider with passenger names and the pickup address. A reservation can be adjusted later if plans change; check the cancellation terms before you book.
2. DFW Airport: plan for volume and roadwork
DFW is one of the busiest airports in the country during the holidays, and its roads have been under construction for more than a year as part of the $12 billion DFW Forward plan. Terminal entrances and exits have changed several times, so check DFW's construction updates the week you fly.
Departures: Airport staff have recommended arriving at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international during the holidays. We plan pickup times from that, plus the drive.
Arrivals: Your chauffeur tracks the flight and adjusts to the actual landing time. Tell us your terminal and whether you are checking bags.
Meet-and-greet: For guests who don't know the airport, or anyone traveling with family and luggage, a chauffeur waiting inside is worth it. Our meet-and-greet vs. curbside guide explains the difference.

3. Dallas Love Field: parking is the pinch point
Love Field is smaller and closer to Uptown, Downtown, Highland Park and Preston Hollow, but its garages are the problem at Thanksgiving. Parking is first-come, first-served, and the airport has warned in past years that its garages fill quickly on the weekends before and after the holiday.
A chauffeur removes the parking question entirely: no circling the garage, no shuttle from an overflow lot, no car sitting at the airport for a week. Check live garage status and advisories at dallas-lovefield.com if you plan to drive. Deciding which airport to fly into? Read Love Field vs. DFW, and see our Dallas Love Field car service.
4. Picking up family? Treat it like a VIP arrival
Thanksgiving pickups are often parents, grandparents or in-laws who fly in once a year. The same details we ask an executive assistant for matter even more here:
Passenger names and a mobile number that will be on during the flight
Flight number, airline and arrival airport
Number of checked bags, and anything oversized such as a wheelchair or golf clubs
Any mobility needs, so the chauffeur can meet them at the right spot
The final address, plus any stops on the way
If you need a child seat, tell us when you reserve so we can confirm what's available.
5. Match the vehicle to the group

6. Plan the return trip before you leave
The Sunday after Thanksgiving is the day most people forget to plan. Book the ride back to the airport, or the pickup on your return, at the same time as the first leg. On November 29 the airports, the curbs and the roads will all be at their busiest.
Holidays are also when weather causes delays. Because we monitor your flight, a delayed arrival doesn't mean rebooking the pickup. If a cancellation moves you to a different flight, send us the new flight number.

Frequently asked questions
How far in advance should I book Thanksgiving airport transportation in Dallas? As soon as your flights are booked. For November 22, 25 and 29, late October is not too early.
Is a chauffeur better than parking at the airport over Thanksgiving? For many travelers, yes. Love Field's garages are first-come, first-served and fill on holiday weekends, and DFW's roadwork can add time. A chauffeur drops you at the curb and is waiting when you land.
What happens if my flight is delayed? We monitor your flight and adjust the pickup to your actual arrival time. If you are rebooked onto a different flight, send us the new flight number.
Can you pick up relatives arriving on different flights? Yes. We can schedule separate pickups, or reserve a chauffeur by the hour for staggered arrivals. Minimums may apply to hourly service.
Do you serve both DFW Airport and Dallas Love Field? Yes, along with private aviation terminals, throughout Dallas, Plano, Frisco, Prosper, Allen, McKinney, Highland Park and the rest of Dallas–Fort Worth.
